Context
Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, displaced families are in need of urgent support and assistance. Food, clothes, medicine, blankets and water are desperately necessary but also medical equipment, fuel and supplies for hospitals and health centers. Many children have also lost parents and loved ones. As of February 2024, UNICEF estimated the number of children unaccompanied or separated to at least 17,000.
Goals
Provide support to Palestinian families and children.
Activities
Activities may include:
- Emergency relief such as food, water, healthcare and shelter.
- Mental health support.
- Long-term support to orphans with food and clothing, health care, education and vocational training, protection and psychological support, as well as social welfare.
Myriad Canada is working with Taawon (Welfare Association) on this project, a nonprofit launched in Geneva in 1983 whose mission is to safeguard and promote the aspirations of the Palestinian people, particularly in the social, cultural, humanitarian, healthcare, and educational fields. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis. Since the beginning of the attack on Gaza, their relief efforts have focused on providing food, shelter, medical aid, and mental health support to over 520,000 individuals in Gaza. Strong partnerships with local organizations ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, even in the most challenging conditions.
Myriad Canada’s role is to carry out charitable activities across the globe in accordance with its charitable purposes. We control and monitor the use of funds and the progress of charitable activities to ensure that donations made to Myriad Canada have the greatest impact in accordance with donors’ expressed wishes. As a member of the Myriad Alliance with offices in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, Myriad Canada has a vast international network and extensive practical expertise.
