Context
Globally, there are nearly 50 million victims of trafficking, and for those perpetrating this crime, the risk is low while the rewards are high. Modern-day slavery is more pervasive than ever, yet it often goes unnoticed due to its concealed nature, allowing the crime to thrive. Slavery is prevalent in almost every country, making it the fastest-growing crime worldwide. Individuals are compelled, coerced, or inadequately compensated for their physical labor, with instances commonly observed in industries such as factories, agriculture, construction, nail bars, and hand car washes.
Goals
Prevent human trafficking/re-trafficking by helping victims, prosecuting traffickers and creating resources to define the most effective ways of prevention.
Activities
Activities may include:
- Provide holistic aftercare to victims of human trafficking;
- Act as liaison/trusted bridge between law enforcement and survivors in trafficking cases;
- Conduct human trafficking prevention.
