Her Initiative, Tanzania KBF Africa Prize 2023/2024

Her Initiative has been awarded the 2023-2024 Africa Prize by the King Baudouin Foundation, receiving 200,000 euros to support its mission of empowering young women across East Africa. The organization works to break down barriers preventing women from achieving financial resilience, addressing challenges such as poverty, gender-based violence, and youth unemployment. With a focus on technology-driven solutions, Her Initiative offers programs helping young women access education, start and scale up enterprises. Since its founding in 2019, it has reached over 15,000 women and girls, including helping more than 200 women launch their businesses, and enabling 2,805 to digitalize existing businesses.

The KBF Africa Prize will enable Her Initiative to expand its impact, aiming to reach an additional 100,000 women over the next five years, while fostering collaboration among youth organizations across the region to share resources and knowledge.
